Softball Recap: Woodland Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Woodland had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Dutchtown Bulldogs a 13-0 shutout on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Wolfpack, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Jasmine Huit, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Allen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Woodland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dutchtown only posted an OBP of .133.

Dutchtown's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Woodland and Dutchtown will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wolfpack will take on rival Eagle's Landing Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dutchtown is set to square off against their familiar foe McIntosh at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
