The Perris Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Heritage Patriots at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Perris has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Perris came up short against San Jacinto Valley Academy on Thursday, falling 13-2. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Perris saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abraham Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that Rodriguez has got this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They had just enough and edged out Citrus Hill 8-6. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won four in a row.
Tommy Nava spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Wade Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. Nathyn Ojeda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.
Perris' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Heritage, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perris has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
