Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orland). They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Live Oak Lions on Tuesday. The Trojans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 13-0).
Roy Alexander made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Orland's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 9-13 when he doesn't). Alexander was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Miguel Esquivel was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Schager, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Orland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
