Monday just wasn't the day for Brooks County's offense. They lost 14-0 to Clinch County on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Brooks County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoey White, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Turner County can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Monroe by a score of 9-5.
Madison McRae spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Turner County let Janiyah Smith and Aalunah Edwards run wild. Smith went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Edwards went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave Smith a new career-high. Azaria McKinney was another key player, earning three runs and two stolen bases.
Brooks County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Turner County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-18.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brooks County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Turner County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
