Harry Giles, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound power forward regarded as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2016 class by
247Sports, announced via Twitter that he will spend his senior season at
Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.).Giles is moving on from
Wesleyan Christian Academy (High Point, N.C.), where he posted 23.9 points and 12.5 rebounds per game en route to MaxPreps All-American honors as a junior. The Trojans finished the season ranked No. 12 nationally and were in the conversation for a preseason No. 1 ranking in 2015-16.
Under head coach Steve Smith, Oak Hill Academy has been recognized as high school basketball's national champion nine times. The Warriors went 47-1 and finished No. 2 last season.
Giles will join three other talented transfers at the rural Virginia school in the fall.
Braxton Blackwell of
Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tenn.),
Matt Coleman of
Maury (Norfolk, Va.) and
Mario Kegler of
Arlington Country Day (Jacksonville, Fla.) via Mississippi have also announced intentions to transfer to Oak Hill Academy.
Interestingly, Giles got a first-hand look at his new team last season. Oak Hill Academy beat Wesleyan Christian Academy 82-59 in the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions final in January.
