Basketball Game Preview: Ygnacio Valley Wolves vs. Berean Christian Eagles

The Ygnacio Valley Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the Berean Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berean Christian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ygnacio Valley, who comes in off a win.

Ygnacio Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They had just enough and edged Concord out 40-37. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Sa'Rye Starks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. The game was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Tatom, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Ygnacio Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Berean Christian came up short against Alhambra on Friday and fell 40-27. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 714th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 202nd).

Berean Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-8.

Ygnacio Valley ended up a good deal behind Berean Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 62-43. Can Ygnacio Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
