The Barstow Aztecs can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Victor Valley out 46-44. The victory was just what Barstow needed coming off of a 73-31 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Barstow to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makena Hassell, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hassell posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Emersyn Ebel, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Barstow's win bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Victor Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.
Barstow will be playing in front of their home fans against Silverado at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Victor Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Granite Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Granite Hills is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
