The Broomfield Eagles will challenge the Legend Titans at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Broomfield will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.
Broomfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Grandview. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly three runs.
James Varela looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, JR Ramsey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Bryce Jackson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Legend faced Cherry Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Titans came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 7-3.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Fladebo, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Legend is undefeated when Fladebo posts three or more RBI, but 10-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carson Reffel, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Legend's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Broomfield, their victory bumped their record up to 22-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Broomfield hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Legend struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Broomfield suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Legend in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
