The Benicia Panthers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 win over Concord. The victory was just what Benicia needed coming off of a 47-22 defeat in their prior game.
Despite the loss, Concord still got an impressive performance from Lamiyah Washington, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten steals. That was a full 67.5% of Concord's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was A'mariah Iglesias, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Benicia's win bumped their record up to 4-19. As for Concord, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
Benicia will be playing at home against Ygnacio Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Concord, they will head out on the road to square off against Berkeley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Berkeley is ranked 876th, while Concord is ranked 893rd).
