The Moses Brown Quakers will be playing at home against the Cranston East Thunderbolts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Moses Brown's favor as the squad sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Cranston East has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Moses Brown gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 63-34 victory over Tiverton. Given Moses Brown's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Tiverton is ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moses Brown relied on the efforts of Jaelynn Perez, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five steals, and Lauren Bousquet, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Bousquet is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Marielle Nassiff, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Cranston East was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 48-42 to Tiverton.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mya Jiminez, who scored 14 points. Jayna Gunderway was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Moses Brown's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Cranston East, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's match: Moses Brown have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4 threes per game. However, it's not like Cranston East struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
