The Cabrillo Conquistadores lost against the Morro Bay Pirates back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Cabrillo fell 49-40 to the Pirates. It was the first time this season that Cabrillo let down their fans at home.
Cabrillo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rylie Jenkins, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Angeliyah Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Cabrillo's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-6. As for Morro Bay, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.
Cabrillo will head out on the road to face off against the Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Santa Maria is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Morro Bay, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Royals at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Mission College Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
