Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for East Union

East Union had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past the Sierra Timberwolves 59-38. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading East Union to victory were Shebra Rezaye and Ava Barrera. Rezaye went 5 for 8 en route to 15 points and eight boards, while Barrera dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Barrera is becoming a predictor of East Union's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 15-3 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Haven Stone, who posted eight points.

East Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mya Everett, who earned nine points and three blocks. Everett is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Barnes, who scored six points in addition to eight boards and five blocks.

East Union is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Sierra, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-11.

East Union wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-39 win against Patterson on the 30th. As for Sierra, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-43 loss against Mountain House on the 30th.
