Douglas is a perfect 9-0 against Cholla since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Douglas is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
On Saturday, Douglas made easy work of ALA - Gilbert North and carried off an 8-1 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jose Ivan Higuera, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Dylan Valenzuela was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Douglas hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cholla, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Rio Rico 3-2.
Cholla saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gregory Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Douglas' win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Cholla, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Douglas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Cholla struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Douglas' way against Cholla in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Douglas made off with an 8-2 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
