Scholars Guild Academy extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-13. They fell 5-0 to the Creekside Christian Academy Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 4-2 defeat last Monday.
Scholars Guild Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Hall, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double was Hall's first of the season.
As for Creekside Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.
On Creekside Christian Academy's side, Brady Mccadden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Mccadden has posted since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Luke Stansell looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on DJ Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Sam McGinnis was another key player, earning one run and three stolen bases.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Scholars Guild Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Peachtree Academy at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for Creekside Christian Academy, they will face off against Central Georgia Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Georgia Arts' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Creekside Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
