Softball Recap: Parkway Central Has No Trouble Against Parkway North

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eureka, Parkway Central was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Parkway North Vikings. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.

Olivia Knock made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Knock was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Parkway Central got a big performance out of Gianna Pearson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zoe Mitchell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Parkway Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

The win snapped Parkway Central's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-5 record. As for Parkway North, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, Parkway Central will take on Fox at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Parkway North, they will head out to take on St. Dominic at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
