Pacifica is 0-10 against Cypress since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pacifica Mariners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cypress Centurions at 6:15 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Pacifica is ranked 267th, while Cypress is ranked 275th).
Even though Pacifica has not done well against Kennedy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Pacifica snuck past Kennedy with a 52-47 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pacifica.
Meanwhile, Cypress came up short against Crean Lutheran on Tuesday and fell 55-45.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Lauryn Nakamura, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Caceres, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Cypress struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Pacifica's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Cypress, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Pacifica came up short against Cypress in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 45-35. Thankfully for Pacifica, Myia Collins (who scored 11 points along with four steals and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
