Two dominant guards in Jackie Polk and Mathis Dritz are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Los Osos Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Westlake Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Los Osos earned a 49-41 victory over the Huskies. The win was just what Los Osos needed coming off of a 81-48 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Westlake came tearing into Thursday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Oaks Christian with points to spare, taking the game 60-43. Given Westlake's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Lions are ranked 469th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westlake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dritz, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Dritz is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Emma Ange was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Los Osos is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. As for Westlake, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
