The Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Shepherd Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Coldspring-Oakhurst knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Shepherd likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Coldspring-Oakhurst earned a 59-49 victory over Trinity. Given Coldspring-Oakhurst's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while Trinity is ranked 991st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Shepherd didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Anderson-Shiro on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 47-41 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Shepherd.
Shepherd's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden White, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tristen Cullum, who scored 14 points along with five assists.
Coldspring-Oakhurst is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. As for Shepherd, their win bumped their record up to 19-13.
Coldspring-Oakhurst strolled past Shepherd in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 63-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coldspring-Oakhurst since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
