Temecula Prep came out on top against Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Patriots were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Mustangs. Considering the Patriots have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Braden Litt and Noah Scarlett made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Litt pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Scarlett pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At the plate, Litt got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Scarlett went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Temecula Prep is undefeated when Scarlett posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Cody Servin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
Temecula Prep is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for California Military Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.
