Even though the First Coast Buccaneers scored an imposing 60 points on Wednesday, the Stanton Blue Devils still came out on top. Stanton escaped with a win against First Coast by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60. That's another feather in the cap for Stanton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Gabrielle Fajardo, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Catherine Brewer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Stanton's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for First Coast, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanton will face off against Nease at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. First Coast won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mandarin at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Mandarin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than First Coast in Florida (Mandarin is ranked 104th, while First Coast is ranked 454th).
