The third road game was the charm for the Canyon Cowboys, as they earned their first road win of the season. They blew past Saugus 58-36. The win was all the more spectacular given Canyon's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while Saugus is ranked 83rd).
Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josie Regez led the charge by scoring 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Regez has scored at least 25% of Canyon's points. Another player making a difference was Kodia ?Koko? Booker, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds.
Canyon now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Saugus, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Canyon will be playing in front of their home fans against West Ranch at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saugus, they will head out on the road to face off against Valencia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Valencia is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
