Petaluma has gone 9-1 against American Canyon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. Petaluma is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Petaluma couldn't beat Saint Francis on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Trojans fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 5-4.
Dominic Fontana and Arlo Pendleton did some serious damage despite the final result: Fontana went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI, while Pendleton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, American Canyon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Sonoma Valley on Thursday.
Bradley Keffer tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, American Canyon's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sovann Som, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Som has posted since back in March of 2024. Noah Johnson was another, going 2-for-4 with three runs.
Petaluma's defeat dropped their record down to 15-3. As for American Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
American Canyon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Petaluma hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for American Canyon, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Petaluma's hitters?
Everything went Petaluma's way against American Canyon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Petaluma made off with an 8-0 win. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
