The Wilson Magnet Wildcats had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 59-49 victory over Gates Chili on Monday. The win was just what Wilson Magnet needed coming off of a 79-49 loss in their prior game.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DarQuinn Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson set a new season high mark in points with 12. Tremier Lewis was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Gates Chili were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Wilson Magnet's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2. As for Gates Chili, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Wilson Magnet will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Gates Chili will be home for the holidays to greet Irondequoit at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
