After losing to the Hilmar Yellowjackets the last time they met, the Ripon Christian Knights decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Ripon Christian walked away with a 51-39 win over Hilmar on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ripon Christian.
Ripon Christian was led to victory by Reagan Van der hoek and Maddie Yonker. Van der hoek dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds, while Yonker dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 15 rebounds, and ten steals. Van der hoek is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kara Kessler, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Gomes, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Alicia Souza was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Ripon Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Hilmar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.
Ripon Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverbank at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverbank presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ripon Christian in California (Riverbank is ranked 199th, while Ripon Christian is ranked 501st). As for Hilmar, they will head out on the road to face off against Livingston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Livingston is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
