Monroe extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-12. They lost 21-1 to the Queen's Grant Stallions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 back in March.
Monroe saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kadie Martinez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Queen's Grant, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.
On Queen's Grant's side, Addi Benton and Melissa Detweiler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Benton struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Detweiler pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Benton has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Benton fired off three triples, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3, while Detweiler went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Detweiler has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Queen's Grant got a massive performance out of Nicole Strickland-Mitchell, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Kali Meyer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Monroe and Anson, looking ahead, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.58 runs per game on average), something the Redhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Queen's Grant, they will host Mountain Island Charter at 4:30 p.m. on the 13th.
