Milpitas had lost seven straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it eight. They came up short against the Los Altos Eagles, falling 13-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 12-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2020.

Hugo Garay was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Milpitas is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-12 otherwise. Garay was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other pitching news, Milpitas got a good showing from Brody Vogel, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Garay wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
As for Los Altos, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-4. Considering they have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Milpitas, Los Altos also got a great game from a two-way player: Darrion Wesley. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Wesley has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quinn Chiochios, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Enrique Nicolas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
While Milpitas had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
