In the biggest high school football game of the weekend nationally, No. 2
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) scored on five of its seven first-half possessions and the defense forced four turnovers in a dominant 56-28 win over No. 13
Centennial (Corona, Calif.).

Elija Lofton added a pair of touchdown catches as the Gaels racked up more than 300 yards of offense in the opening 24 minutes. Rice added a third score on the first drive of the second half for Gorman.
Corona Centennial's first game outside of California didn't get off to a great start as Rice scored on the first offensive play for Bishop Gorman following one of the four turnovers for the Huskies. The game wasn't six minutes old before Rice added a second score on a 5-yard toss sweep following another Centennial turnover to give Gorman a 14-0 lead halfway through the opening quarter.

Husan Longstreet got the Huskies into plus territory on their next possession with a 20-yard quarterback scramble before
Cornell Hatcher Jr. capped the quick-scoring drive with a 45-yard burst up the middle with 4:35 left in the first.
But Bishop Gorman's potent offense was reeling off chunk plays by the handful. Michigan commit
Micah Kaapana busted a 44-yard gain on the first play of Gorman's next drive to set up the Gaels' third score, a 16-pass from Hawaii commit
Micah Alejado to Lofton.
The Gaels added two more scores, a Lofton 9-yard TD reception followed by a 2-yard pass from Alejado to
Eli Yamauchi, before the Gorman defense stiffened in the red zone right before halftime.
As Longstreet looked to run the ball inside the 5-yard line, the Gaels popped the ball out for their fourth takeaway to take the 35-7 lead into the locker room.
In addition to Rice, Lofton and
Audric Harris found the end zone in the second half for Gorman.
Hatcher kept the offense moving for Centennial despite the game being out of reach, rushing 29 times for 233 yards and accounting for all four of his team's touchdowns.
Bishop Gorman has beaten teams from California, Florida and Utah en route to a 4-0 record. Three of those wins have come against teams ranked in this week's MaxPreps Top 25. The Gaels will now turn their attention toward a meeting with
Liberty (Henderson, Nev.) on Sept. 14.
