Everything went their way against the Mallard Creek Mavericks on Friday as the Independence Patriots made off with a 12-2 win. With that victory, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.
Zachary Benton tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
At the plate, Don Thomas was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Mosher, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
