Scotts Valley is 7-1 against Monte Vista Christian since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Scotts Valley Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Scotts Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Monte Vista Christian is ranked 117th).
Scotts Valley had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 73-32 victory over DCP Alum Rock at home. The victory was just what Scotts Valley needed coming off of a 72-51 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Monte Vista Christian put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Harbor by a score of 81-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Monte Vista Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angel Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Nico Downie was another key contributor, scoring 26 points.
The losses dropped Scotts Valley to 3-3 and DCP Alum Rock to 1-4.
Scotts Valley strolled past Monte Vista Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 73-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Scotts Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
