With a playoff win on the line, Columbine rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Grandview Wolves. The win was nothing new for the Rebels as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Shalee Trujillo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Addison Swenby and Mason Abraham did most of the damage at the plate: Swenby went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Abraham went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Swenby a new career-high. Olivia Keiter was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Columbine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grandview only posted an OBP of .318.
Columbine's record is now 21-5. As for Grandview, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.
