Baseball Recap: Windsor Academy Triumphs

Eight must be Windsor Academy's lucky number: they beat Crisp Academy with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Knights beat the Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-5. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Blayne Bennett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Harris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three doubles, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dawson Sims, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Windsor Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Windsor Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Crisp Academy, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Windsor Academy will face off against Gatewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
