After flying high against the Independence Tigers last Friday, the St. Helena College and Career Academy Hawks came back down to earth. St. Helena College and Career Academy took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars on Tuesday. St. Helena College and Career Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Pope John Paul II's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meredith Bourdais, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmerson Alonso, who scored 12 points.
St. Helena College and Career Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Pope John Paul II, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Helena College and Career Academy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Springfield will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Pope John Paul II, they and the Wolverines will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
