The Lake Dallas Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Independence Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake Dallas, who comes in off a win.
Even though Emerson scored an imposing 35 points on Friday, Lake Dallas still came out on top. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Lake Dallas made off with a 36-35 win over Emerson. The win was just what Lake Dallas needed coming off of a 52-21 defeat in their prior matchup.
Lake Dallas had a senior duo take command as Keonde Henry picked up 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Cade Bortnem threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Dylan Brauchle and his 90 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Lake Dallas' victory.
Meanwhile, Independence fell victim to Argyle's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Eagles 63-0. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 835th, while Argyle is ranked 89th).
Lake Dallas' win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Independence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
Lake Dallas came up short against Independence in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 19-14. Will Lake Dallas have more luck at home instead of on the road?
