The Golden Sierra Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vacaville Christian. Golden Sierra was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Vacaville Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Golden Sierra still got an impressive performance from Zofia Bradford, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shaylen Vertin, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Kelsey Trumble was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored six points along with ten rebounds and six assists. Trumble is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Ruff, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
Golden Sierra bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.2 points per game. As for Vacaville Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Golden Sierra on the road again on Friday and play against Highlands at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Vacaville Christian, they will take on Rio Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
