The St. Pius X Sartans will square off against the Grants Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Pius X knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Grants likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, St. Pius X made easy work of Manzano and carried off a 49-28 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-14.

It was another big night for Hershul Olloway Jr, who rushed for 212 yards and four scores while picking up 12.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 58 receiving yards. Olloway Jr is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season. Isaiah Carpenter was another key player, throwing for 271 yards and four TDs on only 17 passes.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Grants walked away with it. They came out on top against the Fighting Colts by a score of 14-7 on Saturday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Pirates were the better team in the second half.
Grants didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cardenio Chavez and Coudy Melonas.
Grants' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.5 points over those games. As for St. Pius X, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. St. Pius X has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 233 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Grants struggles in that department as they've been averaging 151.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
St. Pius X strolled past Grants when the teams last played back in August by a score of 34-20. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Pirates' Tristin Fernandez, who rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 223 yards while completing 71.4% of his passes. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Sartans still be able to contain Fernandez? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
