McGuffey is 0-10 against South Park since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The McGuffey Highlanders will head out on the road to face off against the South Park Eagles at 7:15 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (McGuffey is ranked 201st, while South Park is ranked 184th).
McGuffey can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jefferson-Morgan 60-19 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory McGuffey has posted yet this season.
McGuffey's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Schumacher, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Schumacher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Gaso, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, South Park strolled past Mt. Pleasant with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 53-39. The win was just what South Park needed coming off of a 66-39 loss in their prior matchup.
McGuffey pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. South Park's record is now 9-5.
McGuffey ended up a good deal behind South Park in their previous matchup on January 2nd, losing 62-46. Can McGuffey avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
