Reed-Custer is a perfect 6-0 against Plano since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Reapers at 4:30 p.m. Reed-Custer is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
On Tuesday, Reed-Custer came up short against Bishop McNamara and fell 6-1.
Matt Kuban was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk).
Meanwhile, Plano also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Ottawa by a score of 8-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Reapers in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost six in a row.
Eric Nunez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Nathan Tunt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Reed-Custer's record now sits at 0-3. As for Plano, their record is now 0-2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Reed-Custer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Plano struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Reed-Custer's way against Plano when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Reed-Custer made off with an 11-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
