The Silverado Hawks's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 68-58 win over Sonora. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Elizabeth Udeze continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Silverado's points. Another player making a difference was Belinda Rincon, who scored 17 points.
Sonora's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samantha Wilson , who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Lewis, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Silverado's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Sonora, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Silverado will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Granite Hills at 5:30 p.m. on January 2nd. Granite Hills will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1222nd, while Silverado is ranked 176th). Sonora and Woodbridge will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Woodbridge will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
