The Fresno Warriors had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They put the hurt on Madera South with a sharp 45-19 win. Given Fresno's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Madera South is ranked 761st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madera South lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being MICHELLE CORONA, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of JALISSA KIRKPATRICK, who scored six points.
Fresno is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Madera South, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Fresno will head out on the road to face off against Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Roosevelt is on a three-game streak of home wins, Fresno a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Madera South will take on Torres at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
