Chandler and Mountain View are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Wolves will head out to take on the Toros at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Chandler is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Chandler managed to slip by Kofa the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Wolves lost 10-2 to the Kings on Thursday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wolves, who until this game were averaging 2.59 runs allowed.
Chandler got a good showing from Zhaid Diaz, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Diaz has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Colin Murphy was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Skyline on Thursday.
Beck Bertsche spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Duke Henrie, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ryan Person was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyline only posted a batting average of .208.
This is the second loss in a row for Chandler and nudges their season record down to 12-5. As for Mountain View, their record now sits at 6-7.
Mountain View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chandler hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Chandler's hitters?
Chandler came up short against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, falling 6-2. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
