The Chatfield Chargers will square off against the Columbine Rebels at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chatfield is returning to their home field after beating Lakewood on theirs, despite the fact Lakewood has dominated at home this season. The Chargers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Tigers on Wednesday.
Jessyca Vargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Annabelle Beikmann was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Leech, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Columbine faced Valor Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Rebels were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Rebels have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Columbine also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Addison Swenby gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Melanie Newcomb, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Olivia Keiter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Columbine pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Chatfield, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Chatfield hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Columbine struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Chatfield suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to Columbine when the teams last played back in September. Will the Chargers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
