Softball Recap: Centaurus Extends Winning Streak to Three

Centaurus had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Peak to Peak Pumas. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Nora Midness was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in September of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Sizemore, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Kylie Lavender was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Centaurus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peak to Peak only posted an OBP of .333.

Centaurus' record is now 10-1. As for Peak to Peak, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centaurus will take on Arvada at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 1.8, the Bulldogs 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Peak to Peak, they will challenge Jefferson Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.3 runs per game on average), something the Pumas will no doubt try to take advantage of.
