O'Farrell Charter is a perfect 3-0 against Coastal Academy since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. O'Farrell Charter found their leader in sophomore Leshawna Stephens, who made all 7 shots she took to post 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Stephens continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ty'Reiona WashingTon, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 16 points.
O'Farrell Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Coastal Academy walked away with it. They snuck past the Patriots with a 33-27 victory on Tuesday.
Coastal Academy's win came from a few key players O'Farrell Charter will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Addison Smith, who posted eight points. Those eight points gave her a new career-high. Heiress Afalava was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six boards and five assists.
O'Farrell Charter pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points over those games. As for Coastal Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: O'Farrell Charter has been crazy accurate this season, having made 49.1% of their field goals per game. It's a different story for Coastal Academy, though, as they've only made 27.8% of their shots this season. Given O'Farrell Charter's sizable advantage in that area, Coastal Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for O'Farrell Charter against Coastal Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-22 win. In that game, O'Farrell Charter amassed a halftime lead of 34-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
