Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for New London, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-29 loss to St. Paul. While losing is never fun, New London can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 833rd, while St. Paul is ranked 361st).
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mapleton's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were outmatched by Mansfield Christian on the road and fell 87-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Mapleton has suffered yet this season.
New London's loss was their 11th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-11. As for Mapleton, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
New London was taken down by Mapleton 63-17 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can New London avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
