Pueblo West is a perfect 3-0 against Rampart since September of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cyclones will host the Rams at 3:30 p.m. Pueblo West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
Pueblo West is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Doherty 28-1 on Tuesday. The Cyclones have beaten the Spartans the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.
Kinsley Stiner was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Briggs, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Peyton Kuhn, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Pueblo West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Rampart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Vista Ridge, falling 14-5.
Like Pueblo West, Rampart also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Jensen. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and 13 unearned) runs off 14 hits (and only one walk). Jensen has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.
In other batting news, Victoria Kendall made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Pueblo West's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Rampart, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
Rampart's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pueblo West has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Rampart, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Pueblo West's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Pueblo West took their win against Rampart in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Cyclones repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
