On Thursday, Duarte was able to grind out a solid win over The Webb Schools, taking the game 44-32.
Duarte was led to victory by Selena Banuelos and Crystal Moran. Banuelos scored 14 points, while Moran scored 15 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Banuelos has scored at least 25% of Duarte's points. Another player making a difference was Elisa Ramos, who scored six points.
When it comes to explaining why The Webb Schools lost, one person who can't be blamed is Xajani Badkar. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The contest was Badkar's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Pristine Thomas was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 14 rebounds.
Duarte's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for The Webb Schools, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duarte won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rio Hondo Prep at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Rio Hondo Prep is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. The Webb Schools will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Covina at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
