With a playoff game on the line, the Laney Buccaneers rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past Middle Creek with points to spare, taking the game 27-13. The victory was familiar territory for Laney who now have six in a row.
It was another big night for Tyjhere Crudup, who rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns. Crudup has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Hampton Roderick made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
When it comes to explaining why Middle Creek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Michael Beatty. Despite the final result, he rushed for 95 yards, and also caught a touchdown.
Laney's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.67 points. As for Middle Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Laney will head out on the road to face off against Apex Friendship at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Apex Friendship will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Middle Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
