The Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish will square off against the Casa Grande Gauchos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
If Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory beats Casa Grande with four runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory had just enough and edged out Burlingame 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Fightin' Irish have posted since April 16, 2024.

PJ Vigo looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rohan Kahns, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Kahns has posted since back in March of 2024.
Casa Grande not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21, 2024. They put the hurt on Analy with a sharp 15-7 victory. The Gauchos' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Danny Mercado made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mercado was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Rice, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Max Drumm, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Casa Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Analy only posted a batting average of .241.
Casa Grande's record now sits at 4-0. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Casa Grande struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory took their victory against Casa Grande in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 12-1. Does Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory have another victory up their sleeve, or will Casa Grande turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
