The Wheatmore Warriors lost a heartbreaker to the First Flight Nighthawks when they met back in February of 2020, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. Wheatmore had to suffer through a rough 65-32 loss at the hands of First Flight. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wheatmore has scored all season.
Wheatmore's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Robert Nyamongo, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds, and Finley Bryant who scored 12 points along with three steals. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him.
Mason Dobie was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points for First Flight. The match was Dobie's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Carson Hahne was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Wheatmore bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for First Flight, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Wheatmore will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Ben L. Smith at 8:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Ben L. Smith knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Wheatmore likes a good challenge. First Flight won't have much time to rest: their next game is against NC GBB Academy National at 3:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. One thing working in NC GBB Academy National's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
