Greater Nanticoke Area has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Holy Redeemer Royals at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Greater Nanticoke Area took their game at home with ease, bagging a 70-39 win over Wyoming Area. Given Greater Nanticoke Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Wyoming Area is ranked 538th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Holy Redeemer put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 46-24 margin over Wyoming Seminary College Prep. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Holy Redeemer has posted since December 12, 2023.
Holy Redeemer relied on the efforts of Bella Boylan, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds, and Brooke Kroptavich, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kroptavich hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Corridoni, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Greater Nanticoke Area now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Holy Redeemer, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Greater Nanticoke Area came up short against Holy Redeemer when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 53-49. Can Greater Nanticoke Area avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
